Technical Developments
We are always looking to improve the Yellow Card scheme website and app to enhance usability, accessibility and security. This page outlines the latest technical upgrades on the Yellow Card scheme website and app.
NHS login
17th June 2026
We have recently integrated with NHS login to allow users to create new Yellow Card scheme accounts using their NHS login, or link to an existing Yellow Card scheme account. This provides users with an alternative login route using an existing username and password, reducing the need to remember an additional set of credentials. It also allows for a seamless transition between websites.
See our NHS login page for full details on how to use NHS login for the Yellow Card scheme.
Inactivity Session Timeouts
28th May 2026
As part of our ongoing enhancements to keep Yellow Card scheme accounts secure, the Yellow Card scheme has introduced automatic session timeouts for inactive users.
You will be automatically signed out of your Yellow Card scheme account if:
You are inactive for 30 minutes
You remain active, but your session reaches 4 hours
You select “Keep me signed in” and remain active, and your session reaches 12 hours
If you are automatically signed out of your account, you will be redirected to the account homepage and asked to sign back in by re-entering your credentials. These time limits provide an extra layer of security to protect your information.
