YellowCard
Making medicines and medical devices safer

What happens after you report?

Reporting through the Yellow Card scheme makes a big difference in keeping the public safe.

The purpose of the scheme is to provide an early warning that the safety of a product may require further investigation.

Data collected via the Yellow Card scheme can ensure that all healthcare products can continue to be used to benefit people by identifying new side effects or safety issues.

Without the reports, the MHRA would not be able to minimise risks and continue this important work.

Sometimes safety concerns are not promptly reported, which makes it harder for the Yellow Card experts to manage risk.

Your report won’t always result in an immediate change, but it will always be contributing to more data that helps towards increased knowledge about healthcare products.

If you hear of a friend or loved one experiencing a side effect with a medical product or device, help us raise awareness by encouraging them to report it via the Yellow Card scheme.
